He also co-authored a paper on evidence law that was published in the McGill Law Journal. A passionate writer, Jan maintains a personal blog with short essays inspired by his previous studies in philosophy. He speaks French, German, and Czech, and is a competitive tennis player.

Jan articled at a boutique employment and labour law firm in Toronto and went on to work for a legal publication in the field. He obtained a J.D. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where he completed an exchange at the Université Panthéon-Assas in Paris and served as a research assistant in the areas of corporate and securities law.
